')Confused to see that the single chair lift is closed for this season. This gave you access to much of the lower slopes and the full run of the blue that cuts across the mountain.
Has there been any other transport planned to get people up to the top of these runs or is the entire part of the slopes closed ?. Interested to hear from anyone who has just got back. thanks

Been back a week already seems forever, but yes the single chair is closed for the season as they are going to make it into a four man chair. We were talking to our friend Nick (one of the ski instuctors) and he was telling us there are lots of new lifts and runs planned for next season including the t-bar going and another 4 man in its place, Heaven no more cross country hikes. If all goes to plan it should be even better next year.

Bev,W're off to Borovets in a couple of weeks. As we've never been there before I'ma bit confused as to what lifts are open and which are shut.
Can you please look at http://www.bulgariaski.com/borovets/borovetsskiruns.shtml and tell me what numbers are open and what are shut.

I was disappointed to hear the single chair is closed this season. You would think a new 4 seater could be built in the closed season ready for '04. I'm going with a party of mainly 1st time skiers on 7th Feb and the blue run is a good confidence booster before trying any reds. Apart from the lower nursary slopes there are no other blue runs in Borovets and all the easier reds were on these slopes. I've noticed the Sitnyakovo area is normally open on the piste reports but to get there it ...

I'm going with a party of mainly 1st time skiers on 7th Feb and the blue run is a good confidence booster before trying any reds. Apart from the lower nursary slopes there are no other blue runs in Borovets and all the easier reds were on these slopes. I've noticed the Sitnyakovo area is normally open on the piste reports but to get there it would be a long walk up hill. You would really need to wear hiking boots and carry your ski-boots in a backpack unless you're a boardy.Maybe a 4 wheel drive with snow chains could get people up along the blue run which is really a road track.

Totaly agree that the blue run is a good one to get 1st time skier going but as with most of Borovets you have to go through RED to get to the BLUE runs. Looking at the piste map you have the BLUE runs at the top of the gondola and the bottom of the RED runs to the bottom gondola station. Has anyone though of getting some form of compensation as this was not made clear when I booked the holiday and limits many of the slopes we were looking forward to skiing. Interested if this now makes ...
