Ski Area in Bansko

Is anyone awhere of enlargements to the ski area in Bansko?
Went there last year and going back with some more beginners but it would be nice if there was additions to the slopes.
Last year on the piste map there was supposed to be a couple of reds on the right hand side, but they were not open when we were staying.

The Piste's on the right hand side I believe have not been open for many years because they are in a high risk avalanche area. They still count them as part of the Km of pistes though!!!

No additional ski runs-not for this year-who knows after .New chair in the very low area of Chalin Valog-replacing the drag and some snow guns around there plus the ski road with snow guns all the way(if Temp are low though) and water system for guns on the very top(todorka runs)
.....Inside info from the top manager of Bansko resort(2 days old).
The runs on the right on the map are there just to make up the total mileage on paper for resort and are not in use.

re: Ski Area in Bansko

runs on right have been put in again this year, all above is a load of bull, they were closed due to two deaths as the slope was to narrow, this has been changed. This is the only new run in. However i saw a news article on local bulgarian T.V last night saying that the proposed Razlog gondola is in an advanced planning stage and this will increase skiing area in around 2-3 years. Looks like it will expand but only one new run this year.

Thanks for the info folks,

I am very confused. It would be great to a long red run open, but different info.

Well fingers crossed

If you want go to Banskoski.com and check it for yourself. The runs is not listed for this year and the lift as well but it is kept on the map so the resort looks alittle bit more spread .It hasnt work for the last 5-6 years bansko(alot of ) boy.

re: Ski Area in Bansko

AFAIK, the only 'new slopes' are the three re-opened Chain Valog ones that run from the middle station of the gondola to the ski road and are services by a drag lift and a chair (which has the bubble seats from the top lift as these have been updated and will hopefully run in the wind). The big run to the right has been closed for ever and used to be used for the training of the Olymipic downhill team back in the day. High avalanche risk and stones coming through the snow are apparently the ...

High avalanche risk and stones coming through the snow are apparently the problem. There are no plans to re-open it that I have heard of, but if they do, great.
