I purchased a pair of rear entry Salomon boots approximately twenty years ago, they were used for two seasons at intermediate level. I started skiing again last season and did not use them, I am upper intermediate level now, the boots are in good condition.
My question is are modern boots significantly better than the old rear entry ones ? Should I take them or consign them to the bin and invest in a new pair?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Have some old Solomon boots I still use. Went to change them a year ago because they were looking scuffed but still in good condition. The lady in the shop asked me if they still felt comfy and in control doing all I needed to do when skiing. I said yes they were good and never made my feet or legs ache. She said dont change them then so I didnt and they are still going strong even though they dont look very modern.

I have just replaced my old rear entry boots due to the fact a battered them into submission over prob 10+ trips. My new boots seem very comfy but the true test is the slope. I wouldnt of changed them if I hadnt had too, old ones were comfy and did the job.
If youve only done two seasons then I would def keep them perhaps wait till you move up levels again and then think about new ones.
There may be an issue with old style boots and new style ski's. Perhaps call a shop in UK and ask. Also you could rent a new pair for a day just to confirm to yourself that there is or isn't a difference. You could turn into Bodie overight !?
Best of luck John
