get down the depot early . to get the first choice, you will want carving skis ,up to about your nose in height, prob about 170's , look at the edges , they should be sharp and cleen , if not , you will have problems skiing across icey patches.
the guy in the depot will ask your weight and how good you are at skiing this to set the bindings, very important you give him honest answers.
make sure your boots are comfy if not tell him you want to try another pair, as i say go early otherwise ...

do not use your edges on icey slopes, just flatten the skis and ride it out, even the sharpest skis will slide and loose grip, i have done it while holding a carve and lost it big time with brand new street racer 10. check for big gouges in the bases , if u rub your finger nail against the edges, if there are sharp enough u should see some of your nail left on the edges in the form of dust. enjoy
