Flying out with Thomas cook /Neilson on first ski trip for Christmas. Has anyone got any advice on whether our ski helmets will be okay in our hand luggage.

I have actually seen that on a Stansted -Plovdiv flight!

Hilarious....

Also, was sitting on a plane to Sofia about 4 years ago around Christmas and an 'older' English lady sitting in the seat across the aisle in a complete onepiece ski suit and neck warmer only needed her gloves and goggles and she was ready for the slopes!

Hiya, you're definately NOT allowed you helmet in your hand luggage. iv've seen a few good arguements at uk airports between travellers and staff! Its a security rule i think. x

Depends on the airline and the friendliness of the staff.

In 2010 We flew with Easyjet to Geneve for holiday in Val Thorens. Helmet was clipped to my backpack. No questions, no problems at all.

In 2011 We flew to Geneve again with Easyjet for holiday in Les gets / Morzine. We weren't allowed to cary the helmets in hand luggage. Nor were we allowed to wear them.

In Jan this year we flew Easyjet to Sofia for holiday in Borovets. Helmets in hand luggage wasn't an issue.

It is worth checking with the airline before flying.
