Ski Hire in Borovets

Hi,
Its a long time since I posted. I went to Boro twice in 2005 and I have to admit that the ski and boot hire was pretty ropey apart from the lucky few who got Atomic carving skis. Has it improved or is it still similar.

I’ve skied in Borovets for the last five year and the Ski’s & Boot’s I’ve hired were not too bad.

I find the best ploy is to get to the hire shop when it opens and sort out your kit then.

If you are NOT happy with the equipment you are offered make sure you get it changed as soon as possible. It’s also worth trying on several pairs of Boots if you can. Get a pair with plenty of adjustments, as they seem more comfortable to me.

You can always leave the newly hired kit there and return to your hotel for breakfast…

Where you stop also makes a difference. For the last three years we have stayed at the Samokov Hotel, and they have their own Ski Depot and therefore their own Ski’s and Boots.

It is also worth spending a few Levs to get the Ski’s Waxed & Sharpened, as this can make a vast difference. Speak to the guys in the Ski Depot or to your Ski Instructor if you use one.

On another note, I’ve posted some pictures from previous years on my web site, which can be found at http://www.closingtime.co.uk/

Why should the client pay for waxing and sharpening of hotel's ski equipment?. Shouldn't that be general maintanence done by the owner of the equipment?.

Agree 1OO% Fiona.
It's like having to pay to service a hire car.

skis are just cleaned everywhere.if you want you will wax them or edge them yourself.
it is your choice. it is not like servicing a car.it is like if you want to have a car with included super music system, petrol and private driver or just a vehicle to use.

Dummmmm

If you hire something mikey - then in order for it to perform to it's maximum ability it should be in tip top condition.

It's exactly the same as hiring a car - if I want my skis to perform then they should be regularly serviced by the owners - the same as a car is.

Somebodies life could depend on the quality of the edgings and to rent out sub standard gear is disgraceful.
