I have a full one piece ski suit on loan to use, but also have my own salapets, but no jacket.
As I have used up most of my budget for stuff this year, will I get a reasonable quality jacket for reasonable money on borovets?
Dont have to be world class, but must be warm (obvoiusly) if it will get me through one or two seasons (weeks) it will be ok.
What makes/features should I be looking for???
First off, you DON'T need to get Gore-tex which is a) more expensive and b) doesn't breath nearly as well as a lot of the other fabrics. The features that you want to look for are:
- a decent hood for when in blizzards
- a high colar that zips all the way to the top easily (you don't want to fighting your jacket when it is blowy and freezing!)
- velcro on the cuffs to keep the snow out
- make sure that when you try the jacket on you can move your arms freely and without any ...

- I wouldn't go for one of those "all in one" jackets that have a fleece sewn to the inside of the jacket because when it gets hot on the slopes (which it does!) you will have to take off the entire jacket and therefore risk getting soaking wet when or if you fall about. better to have a sepearte fleece under your waterproof jacket. A bit like a layering type system.
- Finally, shop around and you will find some really good jackets at really decent prices.
Oh, try and avoid the super bright and luminous colours (personal preference)
Or try TK Max, they usually have a desent selection of ski jackets - managed to pick up a Killy jacket for £35 last year amd they normally retail for about £150+.
