I forgot to make one other point before - many , many years ago when I first learn't to ski, the first thing we were taught were the rules of the slopes i.e:
Never stop in the middle of the slope always pull to the side (snowboarders note)!
If you hurt yourself and need help, stand your ski's up in the snow in a cross.
And most important - It is the responsibility of the person behind you on the slope to navigate past you! if you are sking wide turns accross the slope and someone runs ...

I was quite surprised that the children were never taught any of the above - and had to explain this to my partners son when he complained that he has run into someone " who was going right across the slope" and it wasn't his fault!
God help him when he drives!

this would seem to be esential info which everyone should be told. Maybe they should put some signs up around the mountains!
