Ski School gradings

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the various grades that you get one you Ski School diplomas mean? :

A, Aii, Aiii, Bi, Bii, Biii and C

I don't think they refer to your ability at all. I think they are the level of your instructor. Ours this year were lower grades than last year - and we progressed from blues to reds!

It works in reverse to what you may expect.

A being the worst - D being the best.

well last week in Bansko they meant:

A - snow plough
B - stem turn
C - parelle turn
D - carving turn

I was happy to carve down runs 7 and 8, fall down most of 4 and poop my pants at the top of 9 and he still gave me a C+ Very Happy maybe he was grading our sun tans insteed of our ability to ski in slush.

Thanks Pete, I was told that in Bansko but thought the ski instructor was just being kind and covering up for the fact he gave me C+, to be honest It does not really matter to me, I kinda take the diplomas tongue in cheek and just look forward to the diploma night and the group letting our hair down... providing I know I have improved in some small way thats enough for me - mind you saying that not sure I would be so happy if the group all got C+ and I got an A (I may have to advise guys ...

When we first skied many years ago in Austria I got an A and was thrilled to bits Razz

Then somebody had to spoil it and tell me the truth -- I was gutted Crying

Not done ski school now for about 8 years, but those early days were just the best fun ever Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
