Ski and boots: Borovets- Are they OK?

What is the quality of the skis and boots in Borovets. I have pre-booked everything with Inghams. Will I get some nice new carvers? Or some battered 'several seasons old' ones. Is it perhaps possible to pay to upgrade to better equipment if that on offer is poor.
PS: Does anyone know why the Sitnyakovo area is listed as open when the lift is closed?

1/ Ski quality matches the ability of the skier

2/ youve just got to walk unless you can cope with uphill skiing
