Haven't got a solid answer to this question from anywhere yet.
Can I take Ski boots on the plane as hand luggage with a Thompson flight? Slightly worried that they will push my main bag weight over the edge (their old but faithful).
They "recommend" putting it in the hold on thir website, does this mean they will kick off when I rock up with my iPod and magazine tucked in my boots for X-Ray?
If anyone knows please get in touch. I leave this Sat, 18th Feb to Boro.
That's what I thought but I have heard unsupported rumours that they are turning people away as they could be used as "blunt weapon"?? Once I start packing I may start to have an idea of exactly how close I am tot he limit. Don't really fancy paying £12 per Kg over!
the problem is security once your bag is checked in if they dont let you through security i imagine you would have to pay for another hold bag and depending who that might be with could be expensive!
I wouldn't risk it, fill your hand luggage with stuff out your case and put them in your hold suitcase... thats what im doing anyway!
hi, this is a bit off topic but on a return flight from Turin, two weeks ago, there was a woman knitting.
How did she get on the plane with 12" long knitting needles!?
Thomson don't let you take boots on as hand luggage, I tried a couple of weeks ago out of Gatwick. They didn't seem to mind that they took me over my 20kg allowance though as my case was 19kg and my boots are 6kg. They also make you put them with the oversized luggage now at Gatwick as well although this may just be to make the handling of baggage a little easier.
The issue isn't security though as you can take them as hand luggage on easyjet and BA flights out of Gatwick. I ...
Hi Jimbo,
Thomson don't let you take boots on as hand luggage, I tried a couple of weeks ago out of Gatwick.
I will be taking them as hand luggage with BA in a couple of weeks time when I go to Bansko as they're to big to fit in my ski bag.
Just returned Balkan Air - Bristol / Sofia, a clear 'no ski boots in hand luggage', everyone was being asked if they had hard ski boots in carry on, those that did had to check them in with skis / snowboard bags, there didn't appear to be any charge for putting them in the hold.
Personally I don't want somebodies hefty ski boots crammed on top of my coat or hand luggage in over head lockers.
