Ski carriage

Has anyone who has flown to Plovdiv this season with Thompson fly had their ski/board bags weighed and been charged extra?

re: Ski carriage

Flew Thompson/Innsbruck, told before no coffin bags for snowboard small board bag 6 kilo max mine was 9 kilo but looked neat so got away with it, other people having trouble and paying excess for large ski bags, one poor chap paid £140 for 2 sets ski 1 blades and 3 boots he looked to have loads of luggage. Don't know about Plovdiv but Thomsons have got stricter. Sad

re: Ski carriage

yeah I am interested as I am flying out on the 1st to Plodive with Thomson. I will be taking a large ski bag with 2 sets of skis and a board. I have previously taken this with Balkan and had no problems.
paid the ski carraige with Thomson so dont want any nasty shocks at the airport.
Please let know if I will be in for a shock

re: Ski carriage

Flew with Thompson to Austia 3 weeks ago. Pre booked ski carriage but stuffed out bags as full as possible with other stuff. No problem whatsoever. Flew from Bristol.

re: Ski carriage

Give them a ring as I was emphatically told the max weight on my board was 6 kilos, I used to take a big bag with 2 boards but the Thompson person I spoke to on the phone said not allowed this year, perhaps they just had a crack down that week? end of jan this year.

re: Ski carriage

Thanks Pete.

I had no problems at Gatwick last year but a couple of people have told me that Thompson are clamping down this year.

Lets hope I have the same luck you had at Bristol.

re: Ski carriage

Thanks Joe.

My wife has spoken to Thompson and they told her that there is no restriction on the length, type or weight of ski/board bags so long as the bag only contains 1 board/pair of skis, poles and boots but, as I mentioned in my earlier post, some of my workmates are saying it's a different story once you get to Gatwick.

re: Ski carriage

Oh good sounds encouraging, perhaps they have had to loosen the rules a little, I think they got fed up of us lot with huge bags in the past. Have a good trip. Cool
