Hi!
Anyone travelled with Inghams from Birmingham to Sofia on thomson flight? We are taking our own kit and not sure what the situation is with skiboots. Counted with hold luggage allowance or go along with skis??
Cheers
Julie.
Anne and I normally pack ski boots with hold luggage and have just finished our packing for tomorrow. Two cases with ski boots split between them with all our clothing and helmets and one weighs 17KG and the other 19. Ski carriage paid for and our salopettes wrapped round the skis and poles. We are flying Thomsoms from Manchester with Crystal.
Thanks for reply. What are you going to wear all week though! Andrew's boots weigh 7kgs! Not much room for rest of gear!! In the past they've just been taken with skis as part of ski carriage , but never been to Bulgaria with Thomsons before. Oh well - he'll just have to take one change of clothes so there's more room for my stuff!!
Hi finding most companies stop ski boots being part of ski allowance and put it on to hold allowance whether that is 15 or 20kgs also classed as dangerous equipment for hand luggage, all part of air lines/tour companies on making more money out of baggage allowance. now have to accomodate ski boots in hold allowance and no extra allowance for winter ski against summer beach holiday and know clothes are heavier for winter break as opposed to winter ski break

It's crazy.....packing light with everything else is the only way to go!!
Hubby has now bought his own board, so his boots will go in with that, along with salopettes etc to leave a bit more room in the suitcases for my ski boots and all our other luggage.
On another note, we flew with bmiBaby last year - robbing so and so's!! Whereas with Thomson/Thomas Cook in the past, if we've been a kilo or two overweight, but you've got miniscule hand luggage (which is our norm) they're okay ...

Charged us £35 on the outbound flight for having overweight baggage, said there was nothing they could do (and that the check in staff were reprimanded if the bags got down to the plane and they were too heavy). Flight home, same luggage, no difference in weight, didn't bat an eye......
Just makes me laugh that it's one story one way, and another on the way home - madness
Oh well- it'll be a husband with the same gear on all week then, and buying the toiletries airside in Boots!! Should still be able to get all my gear there!!
Seen a suggestion from somewhere else - whatever you wear one night (t-shirt, I mean), wear it as your base layer the next day. 7 days = 7 tshirts. Easy packing!!
I wear one pair of jeans and take another pair with me, make them last the week. One pair of apres ski boots - wear them. Wear ski jacket......are you getting my drift!!!
If I didn't have long hair, I'd try to get away without the hairdryer, but sorry, that's not happening, it'd take me 2 hours to get my hair dry and I'd ...

At least I don't have to take 5 pairs of shoes with me when we go skiing, unlike sun hols!!
