Ski equipment with balkan

Anyone had any experience of taking ski equipment with Balkan as I normally fly with wiz with a packed to the brim coffin but am flying with Balkan in 3 weeks and flying with Norwegian airways who seem to have tighter restrictions - just wondered if they uphold them as not sure our coffin will be under 20kgs :-(

re:Ski equipment with balkan

hi
Ive noticed our flight this year is with Jet2- though booked with Balkan, as have some others- appears they have charterd flights this year. In the past , and currently- with Balkan you can take a ski bag and boot bag total weight 20kg and that's for the £15 carriage. I contacted jet2 and they said as long as Balkan have chartered the flight their baggage rules will apply- otherwise Jet 2 would have been £90!
so assuming the same- if you have booked carriage, its skis and boots ...

If Balkan have the flight- their rules apply I was told!
Hope that helps!
Enjoy!

re:Ski equipment with balkan

sorry but what's a coffin? I'm taking 2 pair of skis with me (Belfast to Plovdiv) in a double ski bag and I'm prebooking it as one pair of skis and hoping to get away with that as it's £30 per pair.

It's a snowboard bag which is quite big about a foot wide and 5.5ft long - I've paid the sports carriage

If its one bag under 20kgs and you have paid the carriage you will be Ok. I have taken skis as well as my normal 20 kgs luggage for years and have never had a problem

Hi dbut

Like you I've never had an issue with wiz z they've never even weighed the board bag - I'm just concerned it won't be under 20kg. I have paid sports carriage so hopping that they won't enforce the 20kg limit on sports gear as I reckon 2 pairs of skis with poles and a snowboard are likely to weigh more :-(

re:Ski equipment with balkan

Ive flown with Balkan a few times and Ive seen people be caught out with the sports carriage. I would get the stuff out and weigh your bag and if its more then you may have to compensate with your other hold luggage weight. Or how much your charged for each kg over.

re:Ski equipment with balkan

Been using ours with Balkan for years Dona and to date never a problem. Mine usually contain my heavy skis, poles, boots, helmet and ski gear
and always gone through without any hassle.
