Don't get this about not being able to pre-book with BulgariaSki (ProfiTours) if you haven't taken the holiday through them. We are travelling with Neilsen (13 of us, going out 14th Feb) and booked full ski packages with BSki in December.
Have ProfiTours changed their policy in the last 2 weeks?
They me (and I found out recently that there are several others) because our holiday is booked through one of the following travel companies :-
Balkan holidays
Thomson
Inghams
Crystal
Neilson
Thomas Cook
They say that we can only get the ski package if we book through the tour operator and not directly through them.
My gripe is that there was never any mention of this either in the tour operators catalogues or on this website. Since i took a last minute booking this ...

My gripe is that there was never any mention of this either in the tour operators catalogues or on this website. Since i took a last minute booking this monda for a flight this coming saturday (ie 5 days notice), the tour company said there was insufficient time to book through them and to go direct.
When I tried to do this, Profi Tours / BulgariaSki / whatever, said that I had to go back to my travel agents to pre-book. When I explained the problem of lateness they simply weren't interested.Indeed I am still awaiting a reply to a query I sent them on Tuesday morning!
I would have thought that they would be happy to help, as so many people keep telling me how friendly and helpful the locals are.
As I have stated several times before on this discussion board, this is my 3rd trip to Bulgaria and in general I have to agree with these people, so what is the problem now?
Without receiving a reply from these people I can only speculate. Nobody has offered up any official reason why they are refusing to issue equipment or ski packages.
Just as well I have my own equipment but this has certainly put a bit of a damper on this holiday and I'm sure you can understand my frustration.
Cheers
Steve
PS. If anybody knows the OFFICIAL reason for non-issue if I don't go via the above travel companies, please let me and this board know as I am not getting replies to my email requests since Monday!!
Thanks for the reply, but don't get the first bit. Are you saying that ProfiTours will let you book ski hire only if you are travelling with the operators on your list...or the other way round, ie these are on a 'banned' list.
If the latter, I don't understand why we were successful when we are travelling with Neilsen...?
Hope you get sorted direct with the hire shops. Have a great time!
Profi Tours were saying they wouldn't deal direct if I had booked through any of the listed items, I had to book through the travel company. Don't know if there is some deal going on or what but it doesn't make Profi Tours look good does it? Especially has they aren't answering my emails and it seems, the emails of other people.
Not very good service - hope they sort it out soon for the sake of others who may get caught out and not be in a position to take theie own gear.
I imagine that they are probably on their New Year Holidays this week like the rest of Europe.
We are travelling independantly and have been led to believe that it would be possible for us to pre book skis etc through this site. We haven't done so yet as we were waiting for the season to start and I am now getting worried.
Fingers crossed there has been a blip since Nic has been away for Christmas.
