Ski lessons

Hello all,

Great discussion board by the way!

Going to Borrovets in a couple of weeks. We've been skiing a couple of times but not for 3 years. We are planning on going our own way on the first day and then we will probably be looking for a couple of hours of private lessons on the second day to refine everything Wink.

Does anyone know how you can go about booking private lessons in Borovets. I know in Andorra you just used to go to one central office in resort that arranged ...

thanks in advance

re: Ski lessons

Del boy,

We've only been to Arinsal, so can only comment on that. With the cable car linking Arinsal to neighbouring Pal, I think it would take some beating. You get two very different resorts for the price of one. Arinsal is wide and open, Pal is tighter and more tree lined.

re: Ski lessons

Lizzy,

Thanks for that, Arinsal with its wide open runs sound good to me after skiing Boro !

Any suggestions on accomodation ?

re: Ski lessons

hi there,

there are plenty of private instructors in the hotels and around the resort. however a ski pass, equipment and lessons works out much cheaper and they seperate you into levels of experience. you don't have to attend every lesson if you don't feel like it. last year we bought the package for £100. if you wait until you are in the resort it will cost you £100 just for the ski pass. we had 3 beginners and 1 advanced skier the advanced skier was more than happy with his group and ...

re: Ski lessons

Del boy,

We stayed in the St. Gothard. It was ok, food was reasonable, but a bit noisy (on the bus route), bit too big and a bit far from the slopes for my liking. The 2nd year we stayed in a really nice hotel that was just at the bottom of the 2 man chair lift. Patagonia Austral Hotel. It was at the end of a dead-end road, so nice and quiet. We were only B&B in this hotel though so can't really comment on the food. My parents also stayed in the Princesa Park, which was also ...

Please bear in mind this was 2002 though, a lot could have changed since then!

Carmina,

I'm aware of the price advantages of booking through tour operator. We've got the lift pass and ski hire already booked. I've found in the past I can learn more in a couple of hours one-to-one than in a weeks ski school. Can't meet up for a drink, we'll be flying in as you fly out! Sorry!
