We're off to Borovets on the 12th Feb. I have the older children booked into ski school, and was wondering if anyone knows about booking either ski kindergarten or ski school for a 6 year old. If she has to go into kindergarten, do I need to sort out ski hire etc and pass for her.
If she goes into kindergarten then they will sort that out for you. The kindergarten don't generally use the ski/drag lifts so she probably won't get a pass. Children under 7 don't need a pass to use the lifts - we didn't know that last year and got one anyway! - so if you want to ski after lessons and take a bit further up the slopes to practice then ask to keep her skis. They are fine with that.
If she has skiied before you may be able to get her into a childrens class but this is ...

If she has skiied before you may be able to get her into a childrens class but this is not generally recommended for the under 7's. It is a very long day and they pretty much have to fend for themselves hence the age limits.
I skied with our 2 last year - ages 6 & 8 - but they had used kindergarten the year before. We are not going this season but next time I wouldn't hesitate to put them into ski school but of course they would both be the right ages.
thanks Ellie.
I have three children, ages 11, 8 and 6 who have never skied before and I am concerned about keeping them together, do you know anything about having an instructor for all three. Also there will be another child, aged 5 in our party who also hasn't skied before. Any info would be really appreciated
If it is next week - half term then you will struggle to get them into smaller groups as basically all the instructors are required as it is the busiest week in resort.
With regards to staying together that is not a problem - or shouldn't be. Be organised the first morning and up and ready to go and the choice of the instructors will be greater. If you wander out at 12 noon then obviously you have to settle for whats left!!
With 4 children and 3 of them ...
When are you going??

With 4 children and 3 of them considered younger see if the mix of that class can be that way. There are usually a maximum of 12 to a group and I think 2 instructors for the children although I may be wrong on that account.
Your other option and this is the one I took last year is to ski as a family. If you and the other adults in your party are all beginners then that is a great way to do it! Last year I repeated the beginners class and my hubby went off with an intermediate group but joined us for 2 days which meant I could have a go on some more adventurous slopes.
Also he was knackered by the pace of his group!!
I was put with my 2 kids with 2 other families with children. This worked brilliantly because we were all able to look out for each other - adults and kids a like. I had adult company and they had children of similar ages for them to play with.
Bulgaria is very flexible. Ask and you usually get. You may find that Airtours are unwilling to help you but once kitted out and on the slopes have a word with the instructors sorting out the groups - thye are the one's making the decisions not your travel reps.
I really hope this info helps and ask again if you want to know more. In the meantime try not to worry otherwise you will be burnt out before you get ther!!
