Ski schools for children (and adults)

Hi there!

I am a bit lost with the info on ski schools that I haven't yet booked anything and we shall arrive Thursday 16 in Borovetz. It's our first time there but we are very excited!! I want to book our two little ones into ski school but the two agencies I have approached through bulgariaski.com don't deal with it (strange!). Any advice PLEASE? My two kids are 7 and 4, they have never tried ski before and I really want them to like it! What is the best ski school for children you recommend? Could you also help me with booking for me and my husband? We have done it before but after 7 years, I think we are back to beginners stage (oh dear!).

One last thing, transfers from Sofia to Borovetz. Any agency in particular? I have had so many different quotes... (don't know who to trust/go with).

Hi Sophia!
Please let me know how happy are you with the kids ski school. I hope mine adapt well and don't cry too much - it's their first ski experience. Also, hope there are kids there who can speak English.

Hi Joana

We can recommend Hunters for ski school. Our kids were 5,8 and 10 last year and progressed very well. I would recommend speaking with Hunters re your four year old in advance as you will need a plan b if it is very cold or he (she?) gets tired as his stamina will set the pace for the group and it would be unrealistic to expect him to do four hours a day, 6 days a week with no problems. He may do it but plan b needs to be there!

Hunters are very helpful but I think it would really help your's and their's plans if you spoke to them as early as possible.

Hi joanna,

Not sure if I'll have the chance to post while we're away to update you about lessons, but will try! We're off tomorrow.

I agree with jez, actually that a 4 year old's needs may be quite specific - even things like supervision if they need the loo... I always went for a ski kindergarten type arrangement for that age group, which is more suitable, to be honest than a full on 4 hour a day lesson package, which seems to be the standard thing for children.

my eldest went skiing aged 4 with esprit. there were kids reps on hand to wipe noses, escort to the loo etc etc. I think she wouldve struggled without this, and she was quite grown up for her age...

my youngest skiid last year for the first time aged 6.5 and the difference in her ability to cope with the whole ski first time ski experience was drastically better, as she was that bit older.

maybe post on here to ask about ski kind.

you know your kids best, however, so only offering one perspective.

good luck! enjoy your trip.

have used hunter for transfers - excellent service. Cannot comment ski school but did have a starter snow board lesson with Bobby, Hunter's ski/snowboard school manager at Christmas and could not fault the patience and professionalism. There are many more posts on the forum recommending Hunters, amongst others.
