Hi, Going to Boro on 1st March. First time skiing and buying clothesetc to take. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Also, should we try lessons at home before we go or start from scratch when we get there?
Loads of questions to ask, HELP!!!!!
Personally, just go with your lessons there, I am sure they'll be lots of people in the same situation as you guys, and its a good way to make friends, falling over and having a good laugh.
I would recommend, pain killers! cold cough flu tablets as you might find after a couple of days, you feel under the weather. Clothes wise!!!! ohh loads! As long as you have a good coat, and a couple of pairs of salopets (trousers) they should cover you for the week. I would also say take some fleeces, ...

As long as you have a good coat, and a couple of pairs of salopets (trousers) they should cover you for the week. I would also say take some fleeces, but also t-shirts, as you may find you get a bright sunny day and it'll be warm (suncream). Obvious things such as good thick socks for your ski boots, and warm under garmets for the private regions wouldn't go a miss. Good gloves and a nice bright hat and your away! sun glasses are a defo, or goggles, you can pick these up cheap in the resort, or even on sites such as ebay. I am sure I have missed off lots of things, but they would be my essentials..
Hope you have a great time.
hi dont worry is the first bit of advice!
i would recommend a couple of shops decathlon and tog 24 really good clothing at good prices. there no point buying mega expensive clothing for the first time you just want waterproof and warm!
on the ski lesson before you go its up to you, i have alway recommended them to friends as it will help you gain confidence before you go, the only thing i will say if you go to a dry slope dont get put off as real snow is much easier!
hope this helps ...

We went to Xscape and had some lessons before we went for the first time. We were glad we had because it meant that we missed out on the nursery slopes and could go straight onto the main slopes. Also, because we're 'oldies', I was a bit nervous about actually being able to stay upright!
As for clothes - try TKMaxx, or even e-bay. Take plenty of layers because you can always take some off if you're too warm. Evenings tend to be pretty casual - jeans and tops. You'll need some footwear ...

evening wear - jeans and a jumper, with walking boots. Don't worry about make up and jewelry and stuff, there isn't anywhere that dressy. It's very comfortable and casual. Relax, you'll have a great time.
