Thoroughly disloyal I know, but has anybody been skiing to Finland? We are about to book for next year.
We have been to Borovets for the last two years and had two fantastic holidays and in many ways would be more than happy to go back and probably will do so in the next year or so, we just fancied going somewhere different.
Any comments on Finland would be more than welcome.
Did some essential research and if your definition of expensive is the same as mine then the booze isn't too serious at all, similar to UK - Norway is the place to avoid if you go for self liver enlargement!!
Will be somewhat chilly but hey ho - a different place.
Not a lot of vertical but some good intermediate runs which will keep me happy - looks like the off piste is there too. Must confess that for the beginners it looks excellent and wifey and kids did get fed up ...
Thanks Neil,

Must confess that for the beginners it looks excellent and wifey and kids did get fed up standing in queues in Borovets last year with the longest run being down a somewhat icy track.
Before I am competely and utterly flamed I will willingly say that in the advanced lessons I had the best skiing I had in my life with minimal queues in Borovets last year. It will be hard to beat but I am not the only one in the family going and as I mentioned in the original post, I am sure we will return - there is just a bit of the 'traveller' in us too. So any newcomers to Bulgaria please do not be put off, we have had two great holidays there.
Quality Bill!
I know a airport cab driver in the uk and he was telling me about a client who goes to finland. He was saying that if you go to the little ski centres, off the beaten track there, it is a different world. Apparently all locals, quiet pistes, cheaper and some excellent off piste/free riding.
Maybe worth while keeping your ears open when you are out there!
Good luck Bill and report back as Id love to hear about it.

Will do, took the plunge and booked last night. If anyone is looking at Crystal skiing you can save £50 per adult by booking online - only thing is I have probably now booked us for Barbados in June!

we have had 2 great hols over the last 2yrs in Borovets but like you we need a change. So we booked to go to Ruka on boxing day.If you have not already done so check out the web site listed below. It looks fab.

My worry is two fold - cost when we get there and secondaly I hope the runs will offer us a challenge. If you have info on either I would be pleased to see it.
