Skiing conditions in Borovets now!!!

Powder, powder and even more powder
Conditions up top today was a tab windy but sunshine, nice fall of snow overnight, wind blown powder, on piste magical, off piste pure bliss
Lovely skiing down the avalanche bowl.
Yastrebets 1 & musala pathway still closed.

can you please tell me why those 2 slpoes are still closed and are they the beginner slopes?. we are flying out to borovets on saturday for a week.

Hi Rach,
Yastrebets 1 is closed due to not enough snow coverage, no snow cannons. Yastrebets 2 & 3 are open due to snow cannon help.
Yastrebets 1 is open down to mid station of the gondola.
All 3 yastrebets runs are reds.
People are skiing the musala pathway but it is officially closed at the mo due to scrappy snow coverage at the bottom. Musala pathway is a blue run.

thanks for that , i should be ok as i'm rubbish at skiing and need to stick to the green slopes!!! Just looked on web cam and it looks like its snowing!!!Yipeeee!!!

Oh dear, if the Musala Pathway is closed doesn't that mean long queues at the end of the day for the gondola back down?

Musala Pathway is my favourite run, just about being within my limited capabilities. Reds are beyond my knees and courage!

You should be ok there looks to be more snow forecast, if you can get down the Musala Pathway, why not try to ski to middle station there is an easier way than going straight down Yastabets 1. Its much better than queuing and no where near as long as the 7km Musula pathway just a little steeper. I'm hoping for more snow too !

That's a good idea to ski down to mid-station, I think it's marked as a blue on the piste map. I should be able to manage that (if it's not too icy), though most of the blues in Borovets are kind of 'purple' - most of them were reds until a few years ago!
