We are travelling to Borovets on Christmas Eve and staying in the Hotel Bor. 18 members of our party are booked in the ski school through Inghams. My 6 year old daughter is the only one without anything booked as she is too young for the ski school and Inghams kindergaten is fully booked, they have suggested that they will get a rep to go and book her into Kindergarten at the Rila or Samakov Hotel. Has anyone encountered this before or got any ideas! I though maybe private lessons.
Hi Julie,
We have been to Borovets twice and we have two children aged 12 and 5. Our 12 year old son went skiing with us and our 4 year old went to the Rilla kindergarten. We highly recommend the Rilla kindergarten. The Inghams kindergarten is not so good because there are only two nannies where at the Rilla there are about 8 nannies. The food is not bad either. We are going to Bankso in January and we have not got a clue what the kindergarten is like there? I hope you all have a fab ...

I think that the number of nannies is irelevant more to do with the ratio of children per nannies. I have heard some good reports about Inghams kindergarten.
We had private lessons last year for our 5 year old in Pamporovo at about £10 per hour. Well worth the money.
Hi Julie
we have placed our little boy (now six) in the ski kindergarten at the Rila for the last two years and he is looking forward to going again in feb 2006.
we were apprehensive at first but he really enjoyed his time.
last year he got virtual one to one tuition during his sking time in the morning and afternoon and was doing the green, blue and parts of the red run by the end of the week with us.
The food appears ok although we usually picked him up at lunchtime.

i have seen mixed reviews on here but we have found it very good.
i have heard people have lied about their kids age to get them into ski school but to be honest i dont think that your insurance would cover you in case of accident if this was the case and also the ski lessons are 4 hours in total, but in reality last longer which is great if you are learning to ski but a bit excessive if you are 6.
We used the kindergarten to get him ski tuition and to give us chance to ski and for this it was great.
He really liked the ladies who looked after him which varied from older ladies to 18/19 years old.
there does appear to be a good ratio of kids to nannies.
even on secret spying missions they were lovely, if he fell they picked him up and loved him like there own and were very tactile with him
i hope this helps
regards

As your little one is the only one in your party to be using the kindergarten you may be able to book her into your ski class if you ski as a family - ask once you have an instructor allocated.
This happened in our group the other year - I skiied with both my children aged 6 and 8 (but had been in the Inghams kindertgarten the year before) and another family did the same as their little boy was very upset at being left away from his parents in the Rila kindergarten.

Generally the Bulgarian system is very flexible and you need go with the flow. Certainly don't let the situation ruin your holiday as you will be able to sort something out if you first option isn't working out.
I experienced the Rila kindergarden last year my Nephew was 6 if I am honest I was not at all impressed by it. I would definately try and get your child to ski with you if you are all beginners.
We stayed in the Rila two years ago and at that time our youngest was 6. She went to the childrens' ski school, not the kindergarten, which was very good and the instructors were great. The only problem was a couple of British kids who could have done with a bit of 'traditional' discipline because their buggering about occupied most of the Instructors' time and began to ruin it for the rest. Thanks to you all for your advice, I feel alot better now about the trip, it was beginning to worry me, having not been to Bulgaria before, they sound as if they are quite relaxed about the whole thing there.
