Smolyan Lakes Chair

Mornin all.

Posted yesterday that In 2005 I boarded down a great, empty run served by the Smolyan Lakes Chair. When I got to the bottom I noticed that there was a road running up to the chair lift and that people were actually downloading here to get to their cars.

A question my good people, where does this road lead to? I'm guessing it connects to the main highway past Studenets heading from Pamps towards Smolyan?

Cheers

Hi Nooky

We have used this road many times in the summer, its more or less a loop road around Pams and Stoykite. One way links to the Pamps / Smoylan junction and the other takes round the scenic route to stoylike where the new lift will be this year. I have never used the run in winter down to the chair though as it was closed last year when we were there. which way did you go to get to the bottom?

Hi Phil.

Coming from the main lift I just headed down the run to my right (with the tower on my left), not the green run but the one with the drag lift, this then leads on to the smolyan lakes run.

The run closed when I was there but bearing in mind there was 4 foot of snow in places I took a punt and headed down it. Note all, not a great idea if you're not used to riding in powder or deep snow. Also I took a risk as I was not sure the lift was running but made my mind up that If I ...

Also I took a risk as I was not sure the lift was running but made my mind up that If I had to walk back up the piste I would, luckily it was running.

Glad I did as no one had skied the piste so fresh tracks all the way.

re: Smolyan Lakes Chair

I did the same this year but sadly the snow ran out halfway down and quite a lot of damage to the board. The snow was fantastic down to that part. Will be looking again this year.

This will be part of the new piste planned to connect upto Perelik Very Happy
