re: Snow Cover Report!

How come borovets has a 'High avalanche danger' when I'm hearing of runs being closed due to lack of snow cover Question

re: Snow Cover Report!

Freeze/thaw conditions make for a very unstable base no matter what the depth. A frozen top layer, even just a few centimetres thick can still slide building into quite a force... you would not like it to hit you Wink and in other cases the lower layers can be retained by the top layer, and move when the tension of the top layer is broken by skiers or boarders....
Rule of thumb, if its freeze/thaw, then there is a high chance of avalanche....

re: Snow Cover Report!

Ah so the high temperatures at the weekend could weaken the snow pack hence why there's a high warning

re: Snow Cover Report!

Its worth studying, if only for your own peace of mind... Please don't think that the mountain is going to fall on your head, advice for skiers regarding avalanche dangers are very broad and normally relate to off-piste, and in respect of gradient, normally over 30 degrees....
