Hi, Im planning a trip in april 2009 unfortunatly i has to be in april but is there any snow at that time of year? Is there anyone that has been on the slopes in april this year that can tell me what kind of snow to expect? whats the best resort to get the best snow?any comments greatfully recieved

Have skiied in Borovets at the end of March in decent snow in previous years. There is usually snow at the top in Boro beginning of April but it is always hit and miss that time of year. Only guaranteed skiing that time of year would be glacier skiing eg Kaprun in Austria.Sorry cannot be more positive.

Hi - went for the first time in Apr this year as it turned out the very last week and the day after we left the official lift closed.
However when we arrived they were having a blizzard for 2-3 dyas fantastic conditions. But after that dump there was no more snow and it was hot. The runs were fine, but some did get a little icy i.e. right at the end where everyone has to ski down.
I loved it. Beer at the top of the mountain admiring the stunning views an incredible feeling being so ...

Nightlife was quiet as the only downside but thats not an issue - we were a group of 4 so had lots of fun with just the 4 of us.

Any of the alps resorts will be open in April, they have actually been getting unvelieveable snow in recent years in April, usually more snow than in Feb. This year for example, in April up to 3meteres fell in most resorts and up to 6 meteres in chamonix. The Alps got the best snow this season out of any ski resorts in the Northern hemisphere. Most resorts close end of April but some stay open until mid may. Glacier skiing in Kaprun and other galcial resorts doesn't actually start until mid ...

Resorts close end of april, mid may and then theres a break and then mid june summer skiing starts.
If you are going to Bulgaria in April i would say go to Bansko.

Hi,Try Tignes they have glacier skiing, but have always managed to ski all areas during the second week of April last 2 years, but you will need a bank loan to buy beer on slopes. You could also try Heavenly (Lake Taheo) season only closed on 5th May this year, we had 108 inches of snow just after christmas this year, clear blue sky, no waiting at lift (all chair lifts). If you purchase lift passes in advance can make it really cheap.

Borovets is historically better later on in the season for snow. Skied till 10th April this year, and its nice and quiet. After we left the runs at the top were skiable into first week of mayre: Snow in april 2009????
Sorry to correct you MIck R but the Espace ski killy stays open until the first week of may and the tignes valley stays open until the second week of May every year. I was there for the last week of the season this year and you could ski back to the resort no problem, the entire place had 6 feet of the white stuff, you would have thought then place could have stayed open for another month. Also spoke to people who worked there and it stays open every year until the second week of Mayre: Snow in april 2009????
Skiable until then but nothing to take you there from mid april Fraser.Wishful thinking about the long ski season in BG.
true about Boro being better on the snow front from the 3 BG resorts.
