Snowboard beginner, which resort in Bulgaria ?

Hello, I am new on this forum so first of all hi Smile

I've been thinking of learning snowboarding this year, and Bulgaria is one of the options we're considering.
Which of the resorts would you recommend for learning to snowboard ?
We would like to go to a place where they have good snowboard lessons for beginners in English (adults groups), and if possible not too crowdy.
In addition, which months would you say are the best for snowboarding in the various resorts in Bulgaria ...

re: Snowboard beginner, which resort in Bulgaria ?

Hi Stav

Can recommend Pamps for a beginner - Snowboard lessons a plenty and very good. Quite a few ex pats that provide lessons on the slopes, 1-2-1 and groups!!!

My mate Moey will really sort you out if you can understand his Bristolian accent mixed in with a bit of Rhodopian.

Let us know if you go to pamps and i'll pass on some numbers!!!

Bansko is far the more boarder friendly resort in terms of runs and attitude ... i can recommend several firms for various lessons, hire and private transfers ...even accomodation etc

Hi Stav.
If you're a beginner then to be honest the skiing at the resort probably isn't that much of an issue. All three major resorts (Bansko, Pamporovo and Borovets) have beginner slopes and English speaking ski/snowboard schools. They also all have blue runs where you can improve your technique. If you're a beginner all 3 will keep you busy for the week. If I were you I'd think about other factors - do I need loads of restaurants/loads of bars/clubs/other activities, do I want a smaller ...

I think everyone on here will probably just recommend their favourite resort!
I only know Bansko well - and I love it there. Loads of traditional restaurants and good hotels and very cheap. There are other people on here who love Borovets or Pamps.
As for the time of year personally I love going in March. But anytime from Jan - March should be fine. Just avoid holidays and events if you don't want crowds!

re: Snowboard beginner, which resort in Bulgaria ?

Hi Stav,

We agree with Matt - most people will recommend their favourites as they are all similar for beginners. We would say Borovets as we live here. I don't board (tried it 4 times and spent the whole time on my backside) but Bobby thinks it's great for beginners as well as lots off offpiste for the advanced.

Again, like Matt, we would also recommend March - for the last 3 seasons, we have had lots of fresh snow in march, with perfect conditions, BUT obviously we can't guarantee it ...

If you need any more help / info, then just send me an email and will be happy to help!
