Just spent a day at Tamworth's Snowdome in the bar whilst my pal tried their 'Learn to Ski in a Day' course.
By the end, he was in full control of snowplough turns and felt very confident with their lifts etc which was good. Downside? Cost £129 for a full day, the inclusive lunch was dreadful and we live 3 hours away....
Bottom line: He learned to ski in just A DAY,
Take sarnies/hit KFC and then shop for England afterwards in the big industrial unit-sized shops in the vicinity. We got ...

There you go - good if you're worried about going out to BG as complete novice.
We are hitting Pamps on 27th and I can't wait.

My husband and I had three lessons on dry ski slopes at £57 at time (for both of us - that works out at £178, which is a bit cheaper I suppose but we only got three hours tuition for that. On the plus side we have also got the hang of snowplough turns and using a drag lift which will, hopefully, be of use to us when we hit Bansko at the weekend. (Heavy rain is forecast - does that mean it will melt all the cannoned snow on the nursery slopes!?)

The dry slope at Swadlincote is also very good. £20 per less on for an hour and a half. They've got permasnow as well which people keep saying is better than the brushes. Classes are small and the instructors are really good! Nice to see some Midlanders on the board as well as all those southerners! Try Decathlon at the Ikea retail park at Eastwood... very good and cheap!re: Snowdome
We go to the snowdome regularly, if you do the learn to ski in a day course out of season its only about £85 (too late now for this season I know but worth bearing in mind for anyone going next season) instructors are`good and lunch wasn't that bad! Our 8 year old had 2 private lessons at £40 each and is now skiing confidently and attending the junior club on a Saturday morning. Fantastic facility right in the heart of the midlands and by the way you can also tabogan ice skate, swim all in ...
