I'm boarding in Bansko next week, and wondered if anyone knows if there are any areas suitable for snowkiting. I Kitesurf and want to take some kites with me, but only if there is somewhere to go.
just trying to get into kitesurfing myself, and was looking around. I would say no to any posibility on the slopes as its too sheltered at all but the top and not really any open space where it wouldnt be dangerous for other folk. Down below in the town there are plenty of fields up near the gondola but your looking for plenty of snow at low level so youll need to be lucky with the conditions there.

Hi Gary,
just trying to get into kitesurfing myself, and was looking around. Cant say I noticed much wind while weve been there (begining of Jan this year, end of Jan last year) but then thats weather for you.
Perhaps somebody else will have more of an idea?
i am an experience kite boarder(land). and i did not see anywhere suitable in the resort its self to kiteboard as all the pistes are lined with trees and up at the top above the tree line the winds real messed up due to the cliffs. there may be some better spots in the backcountry(depending how experienced you are with the mountains and assesing avalanche risk etc.and if your up for hiking along way) im going out again this year but not taking my kites with me.
Thanks for input guys, perhaps I'll give it a miss. I should get a kitesurf session in this Friday before I leave so I don't get withdrawal symptoms on holiday.
