I was in the Milky Way over xmas (Sestriere) and although they had snow, it was very hard, compact and icy with quite a few gravel patches. They also haven't had any new snow since 8th December.
Hi Al - I'm off to Italy soon - some of the webcams are really encouraging and the forecasts look likely to top up what's already there so should be okay.
Must admit that it was a toss up with Andorra - looks like they are struggling this year.
I guess it's just luck - as I would have expected to go to any resort across Europe in early Feb and expected lots of snow.
Which resort are you off to?
Cheers
Dead right Pete - that's why I'm off to back to BLG in late Feb! Couldn't do with just one ski break this year - it's a gutting feeling to think you have to wait a full year until you go again.
So, I spread my cash as best I could and got a week in Pamps and a cancellation week in La Thuile - at a combined prices that was near enough the price of a week at a flash resort in Austria!
With luck - we'll see snow in BLG by the time I get down there!
Alan - sometime you 've got to listen to your head over your heart!
Even PP went to Killington (USA) last year - useful to compare resorts - and I know he came back convinced that it was still Bulagria for him!!!
Also went to Italy last year at end of January, and they'd had no sow for approx 4 weeks, and didn't snow while we were there.
There is no real guarantee of snow anywhere in Europe at the moment, so Bulgaria is still a good bet as anywhere, and I've heard the apre ski is better in Bulgaria than France, Italy etc, so at least you can enjoy that if it doen't snow.
