Sofia airport

Seen some postings saying that Sofia airport is closed and flights are diverting. Does anyone know why this is and if it will be open again soon??

Don't want to delay drinking time on arrival. Booze

re: Sofia airport

Don't know why just now but Sofia does suffer from fog at this time of year.
Last time I went to Borovets we were diverted to Bourgas and had an 8 hour coach trip to the resort Sad

The hotel staff stayed-up for our arrival and plied us with coffee and some sandwiches which was a really nice touch - that was at the Breza - don't know if others did the same.

I think I will take a hip flask with me so I can start the Booze in case of a delay or long transfer Razz

cheers

SARAH
I TRAVELLED HOME FROM BOROVETS LAST WEEK VIA BURGAS, SOFIA WAS CLOSED AND SO WAS PLODIV. SO WE HAD THE 6 HOUR TRIP ON THE BUS. ITS NOT THAT BAD REALLY ALTHOUGH ON THE RETURN JOURNEY IT WAS LIGHT, HOWEVER FOR YOU IT WILL BE DARK. SOFIA AND PLODIV ARE ABOUT THE SAME SEA LEVEL AND BOTH SUFFER THROUGHT FOGGY CONDITIONS THIS TIME OF YEAR EVEN WHEN THE RESORTS AND SURROUNDING AREAS SEEM CLEAR OF FOG

HAPPY TRAVELLING

Where is BURGAS?

For info Sofia airport is here:

Then click on Arrivals, which at present, look good as planes are coming in!

re: Sofia airport

Bourgas is a Black sea airport. i.e. other end of the country from where we want to be !
About 6 -8 hours to Borovets depending on time of day and how many 'convenience' stops are required.
