Sofia or Plovdiv?

The question is, do I drive 3 hrs to Gatwick and fly to Plovdiv then transfer @ 2hrs.
Total 5hrs drive
OR
Drive 30 mins to Birmingham and fly to Sofia then transfer @ 4hrs.
Total 4hrs 30mins

Any recommendations?

Plovdiv then better to have a shorter transfer at the end of the journey. Plovdiv to Pamps has never taken more than 1.5 hours.

Been twice to Boro. Both times Sofia was fogged in.Hence diverted to Bourgas. (8 bloody hours on a caoch) try Plovdiv. May have better facilities. Basically Sofia has no zero visibility equipment. Either that or my pilot lived in Bourgas.!

do you really want a 4 hour journey from gatwick to birmingham when you get back.

Yup good point Steve but I was thinking more along the terms of gettin g to Pamps quickly!

I would do the Plovdiv one 100%.

Remember Sofia is 4 hours if all the roads are clear.
We once had a transfer from Sofia that took 6 hours, arrived in resort at 3am. By the time we had checked in and got to our rooms it was nearer 4am.

Had to be up by 8 to get our passes and check-in for ski school.
Plus you leave to go home much earlier as well.
Plovdiv for me.

I personally would rather be longer on British roads than snow clad Bulgarian ones.
