hi, this is for those of you who have already been to Bulgaria, is Sofia worth a visit?

Yes, it is worth a visit. Don't expect it to equate to Prague or Paris (for example) and don't expect any shopping bargains (unless you have a taste for Nazi regalia and Soviet-era memorabilia) , but you will have an interesting day there, which you will remember. Sofia will be worth revisiting in a few years after Bulgaria joins the EC, just to see the changes.
Go now, to see a city in transition.

We decided to take the sofia sightseeing as our flight was at 9.30pm.We had to be out of our chalet by 12pm so there wasnt much choice.But it turned out to be a nice day,ok not much to do but if you like churches,changing of the guard(or something like that) and your guide was interesting it was worth a visit. shopping wasnt that interesting but plenty of them.There was a mcdonalds and a burger king which after the bland food in the chalet restaurant it did make a nice change.The time went ...
