Speaking Bulgarian

Hello, just a quick question. Do most people in Borovets speak english like in the restaurants, bars, hotels. Or should I be getting a 'learn the complete bulgarian language in 3 days or less course'?
Even if they do speak english is it still a good idea to learn the basic phrases out of courtesy or are they not that bothered?
thanks in advance

re: Speaking Bulgarian

Most people in the bars and restaurants can speak english. It does not harm to learn a few phrases also remember if you nod your head it means no and if you shake your head side to side this means yes.

re: Speaking Bulgarian

The head shaking is moving into the times now. The Bulgarians will understand you well untill you have complaints. They speak very good English when money is involved also.

A few phrases wont hurt a bit and it's more fun.

Most speak several languages quite fluently - you'll have no problem !
