Hi all..
We have heard that Ulen are to install another new 4 man chairlift here in Bansko, to replace a t-bar running to the side of red 7... to relieve the top of the gondola by re-routing skiers back over to blue 6...
Let the rumours begin hahahahaha, but we have seen the equipment stored in a lock-up at the bottom of Bansko, so perhaps it is true
Hmm I suppose I can see the benefit but will tat not result in a line of people at bottom of 7 which you may be going at high speed to go down the ski road.
One question is will Red 12 be working? in 2011 they blamed low snow covering... yet every other run was open seems a waste plus fewer rus open = more crowding = piste gets cut up quicker during the day.
Also what about Red 14 are they installing the anti avelanche equipment and then putting up additional pistes?
Last summer ...

Last summer Steve C you mentioned that they were going to be putting up another piste along side 3 & 11. In fact as you look up at the mountain to the left of 11. That didnt happen time/money/incorrect info but is that in the rumor mill for the 2012 season??
The area opens up quite well there so don't think queues would be a problem at all. We will wait and see if work does start there as it is easily accessable to view as you drive up to the Vihren hut. And we have it from a good source.
Red 12 is the only run that does not have snow cannons, that is why there was not enough snow!! Due to lack of snowfall last winter most of the runs were all mainly artificial snow. Most of the resort would possibly have been closed if it were not for them ...

it was mentioned last year that they were hoping to create another piste off the top of Todorka around by the off-piste. This would not have to have any tree's cut down as usually snow covers this area as the trees and bushes are quite small. All they had to do was piste it. Again there was lack of snow this year and it did not cover these tree's and bushes which it usually does. The off-piste was poor there this year due to lack of snow and so making a piste would have been difficult. Whether that happens we still wait to see.
Red 14 is in the plans but we do not know when this will happen. We have heard when they do it, if they do it, they will lower the top station of the chair down to the treeline which will stop people accessing the off-piste area which at this moment in time is very easy to access from where the top station is now. This is where alot of the fatalities were caused from people going off-piste hence closing the area as it was dangerous.
We have no more info as yet on any new chairs and pistes but have been told Shilli will be getting a new medical centre at some point to come to the standards ecpected when hosting world class events.
We will keep you updated on any news we receive as the season goes on....
Bearing in mind ulen have now been granted 12% encroachment into the park which is considerably more than the 3% existing!!
Myself and Wendy have been having a nose around at the new waterpark next to the Tamplier... Impressive is one word to describe it.... Works have continued through the winter and they have got to a stage where all the pools are visable indoors, and the outside pool is almost finished... There seems to be a couple of small pools, landings im assuming for slides, also jacuzzis, and what seems to be quite a large pool at the back... ...

Hi all...
Speaking to one of the builders he also said that there is to be a bowling alley downstairs...
Looks great, and a definite benefit...
All the road improvements now are becoming very obvious, the top road from the BRT to the traffic lights is having new kerbs in preparation for resurfacing, hopeful they will do the other side down to Tanne... The road to Lucky Bansko is also being extended into the network of new roads to the side of our accommodation, at last, tarmac to drive down and park, and less dust in the summer. A lot of activity also over at the new stretch of road from the Guiness down, it seems all the side roads are being done as well... Tree planting along the side of the Glazne, the grass now returning and all looking a lot better. The park now is a pleasure to visit, especially with our little girl, lovely play area with a new bar, tables and chairs laid out, makes going to `the park' a completely different experience, be it a little wobbly after a couple of hours...
The square also has really spruced up for the summer, all the bars sporting new tables/chairs/parasols and a couple with complete redecorating... Prices still have not suffered, yesterday it was packed from 10.00am on....
Do you know what ?, i am going to say it.... Well done Bansko....
We are also getting a jump park built at the bottom of the park behind the old lake for those who like jump dirt and BMX. Now if they would only build us a bike park things would be heaven!!
