Stolen Skis

We seem to be getting several reports this year on skis being stolen outside of resturants during lunch breaks. This is really disappointing to hear as I've never heard of this happening in previous years (although I'm sure it has) which can suggest that there may well be organised gangs operating in the resorts. I hope not, as all this does is lowers the credability of the Bulgarian people, and the chances are that it may well not be them at all.

There has already been some good advice on this board on how to prevent this happening to you, but my advice would be to pop along to somewhere like Halfords and buy yourself a combination lock to secure your skis to the rack when you leave them.

They are not too bulky to slip into your pocket and should prevent you from having the misfortune of having your skis 'disappear.'

Buy A Lock!

Well said pete. Most ski shops and online ski/board shops do a SKILOCK/TOOL it has a metre of solid wire combination lock, screwdrivers phillips and flat and also a spanner. It is big enough to secure 2 pairs of skis to a table or even a board and a pair of skis! I got Caroline one for chrismas and it works a treat, the small chore is far outweighed by the piece of mind. Dont think i dont have skis so i wont bother as the hire skis seem to be more attractive! - And will potentially cost you ...

re: Stolen Skis

Got to say we were in Bansko last week, and had no such problems, also we never heard of any thefts outside the restaurants. Mal

re: Stolen Skis

We 'always' lock our boards to something regardless of what country we're in... as Pete says, better safe than sorry.

re: Stolen Skis

What happens if the ski that are stolen are hired ones? How do you explain that to the ski hire shop?

re: Stolen Skis

You have to pay Melissa. That is why you need to make sure you insurance covers theft of hire ski's.

re: Stolen Skis

Got a lock from Lidl's for a fiver, I always lock my board at restaurants and pubs. Also does for the bike. Smile
