I am thinking of taking the family (two girls 7 & 9) to Bansko in the Summer Holidays. We have our own appartment but have only visited during ski season. I have read about fishing, walking, biking and bears aswell as the jazz festival. Does anyone have any experience of a Summer visit and are there other activities for the kids ?
The spa pool at Dobriniste is impressive, and cheap, as is the water park in Blagoevgrad. Hopefully the new pool and waterpark will be near completion this summer also in Bansko. Various village centres like in Razlog, are very social with park areas with swings and slides, in fact the main park in Bansko is nice. The narrow gauge train is an experience, if only to go down to Dobriniste, or to Razlog, or even as far as Belitsa (bear park) or beyond to Yakaruda or Yolunda...
The centre is extremely safe, mostly pedestrianised and consideration is always given to children... our little girl loves it...
Hi Steve G..Summer is a lovely time in Bansko, especially around Jazz Festival time 8th-13th Aug...the square is buzzing with tourists and locals who mingle in the square to watch the Jazz which is all free..like Steve says the pool at Dobrinishte is great for the the kids to have a swim, also a small pool at the hotel Perun in Bansko(outdoor, not sure of the price to get access, but will find out)..if you use the Perun pool maybe watch the hotel prices for drinks, not the cheapest, but you can do ...

The Bear Park is also worth a look, sure the kids will love it.
We have a guide to Bansko made by a friend,if you email me (click on my name)i will send it through to you
The transfer is longer from there and the road not as good. Transfer prices are more expensive and there are not alot of companies that do it! If you do choose this option I can put you in contact with guys that do. Some of our drivers will run there in the summer.
