just had a week in borovets ,got back yesterday,this is the story we heard.....we met a lady in Sofia(a rainy day of the slopes) and she told us that a very wealthy business man in bulgaria(listed on forbes) was going to invest a substantial amount of money to make "Borovets "into "super Borovets" but two months ago while being driven in his car he was shot and killed in a walk by shooting and the project is on hold,whether this is true i dont know but she seemed quite knowledgeable on the subject.

this was the lead banker in the investment cartel, he was shot in Sofia, apparently as an attempt to put off the EU negotiations as he was head of one of the largest banks, (contrary to a lot of opinion joining the EU is not a joyous thought for many Bulgarians. The project has been on the drawing board for some time now and work was meant to have started in the spring. As the potential for Borovets is a lot more than Bansko its inevitable that it will go ahead, the prospect of the financial gain is too much to resist. The whole of borosport has changed hands this year and is now in the hands of another very wealthy Bulgarian Buisnessman, lets just hope he keeps his head down
