THE Gatwick Flight

Hey all!

Glad to be back home despite a fantastic getaway to Pamps -

Was wondering what everyone was planning to do with insurance after the major delays and inconveniences we all experienced if you travelled from London Gatwick on 29th January and returned early this morning?!

Any advice anyone?

re: THE Gatwick Flight

you were meant to return on 29th and actually returned on 6th or were meant to be back today?

Im off in a couple weeks.

IIRC my insurance pays about £25 for every few hours delay (after the first 12 hours delay). Its not a great deal of cash in any case.

You probably need to inform insurers asap as well with evidence of the delay.

They will try anything to get out of paying up :S

It's so so important that you get the right insurance.

Basically, we were due to leave at 18:25 on 29th Jan - last sat and had our plane delayed by 3 hours. We can accept this - but then on the actual flight, instead of arriving at Plovdiv, we arrived at Bourgas which was 8 hours away due to snow conditions.

After arriving there - no reps were present and there was no coach to transfer us. We had to wait a further 4 hours i think for coaches to arrive to transfer us.

When they did arrive we had a 8 hour transfer ahead of us and finally got to pamps at around 4 o clock in the afternoon on Sunday. Was a total nightmare!!!!

Missed out on a days skiing and was basically gutted through and through!!

On the return we were delayed by 2 hours too which was annoying because a bus broke down that was transfering passengers on our flight- not their fault obviously but the rubbish bus company's!!

If anyone is reading this who was on the flight do you have the exact times of arrival because I need to contact the insurance company to make a claim.

I think Insure and Go will give us £20 for the whole duration of the delay but will be worth having it out with the ski operator too because of their failure to arrange travel. I'll be contacting them tomorrow after recovering today . . .

Also some advice if you become ill - this happened to my partner , make sure that whoever you see gives you 'decent' medicines- we paid £60 for various bits like paracetamol and throat sweets. But it did give us piece of mind that we saw a doctor. we probably won't claim this back because there's £60 excess!!!!
Silly of us, but we'll know next time.

hi sarah, sorry to hear of all the problems you had, we flew from gatwick to plovdiv, but lucky for us we were on a flight that landed around 19.30 hrs, just as the snow started to fall very heavy, the transfer to borovets took us three hours, which i thought was bad enough, (how lucky was we....) then after 3 days my 24yr old son became unwell, suffering from being dizzy, feeling sick, and basicly feeling really disorentated, which worried him very much, to the point where i thought a ...

re: THE Gatwick Flight

I wish that we had brought the right medication but the doctor's opinion - we felt, counted!

My partner came down with -what we felt was the flu - he wasn't sick at all but had no energy, was aching and coughing all the time. Really had me worried.

The worst thing was, at the end of the holiday when the plane was delayed again, we had to walk so far to the airoplane in the FREEZING conditions. I had no idea how he made it. It really scared me. I could not believe that they didn't ...

I could not believe that they didn't arrange for a coach to transfer us as they would in this country!!

Now, as I sit at my desk in work, I can feel myself coming down with something rotten . . .
