Easy Andy......we do have to hear both sides even though you (and I) may not agree with them.

There has been a lot of negative postings this year which is why I have not been so active on here for a while.

I'm not negative - but hey it's getting busier in Bg don't tell everyone how great it is or they'll all want to come. Let them think that other places are better.

Hi PPL,

Bulgaria Sking is really bad. I dont know how people decide to go there. It snow is never enough, the people wont welcome tourist, the accommodation is very expensive, the beer is very expensive, there are no instructors etc etc. But since I was a bad boy during the summer season I was punished and sentenced to go Skiing in Pamps. We will be there for the THIRD time and not the LAST from 26.01.06 to 06.02.06. When are you going to be there PP? Take it easy Andy and who have any ...

Its only three times more expensive. Bring on the snow.

See you in Pamps

re: THIS BOARD

Andy with ref. to you comment below.

sorry daniel, but the ski instructors get in a lot of s**** if you get into a ski group and just go off and do your own thing.
1st. if you ski with out a group and instructor you are not insured unless you have good cover.
2nd. yes it will make some groups small which makes the other ones with a lot of beginners ( not fair to me )
3rd. so you say the instructors get paid. 6 days a week work for LESS than you get in 1 day.
NOW I am P***** OFF...... ...

YOU should no better than that.

Dont know what you are on about here. I have not said anything about going off alone. Please read my comments carefully before accusing me of anything.
What you say about working for less than I get in one day. What a crap comment! It is relative to there economy. If they earned what we did over here they would be rich by comparision.

re: THIS BOARD

This really wouldn't be much of a board if it only told you about the good things about skiing in Bg (of which there are many). There are pitaflls in any resort and to go forwarned is to go forarmed. Now I like Bg, I have a house near Boro but lets face it it's not all a bed of roses. Girly bars and the like have to be explained to teenage daughters, the great big bottom and legs wearing high heels took some explaining I can tell you. Now I like Bg, I have a house near Boro but lets face it it's not all a bed of roses. Girly bars and the like have to be explained to teenage daughters, the great big bottom and legs wearing high heels took some explaining I can tell you. Dual pricing for lift passes is also comical but then if you can ask for them in Bulgarian you get to pay lower prices something that most visitors would never bother learning to do, so you keep filling the coffers of the tout companies. Although most Bulgarians are warm and friendly, there will always be an element (as there is in this country) that will try to deceive you, it's human nature. If you know some of the scams then you can avoid them. Finally, the snow, there is no point pretending that the resorts get the best snow, they simply don't. They are not always as well groomed as other places but that is reflected in the price and I have to say that generally it's not too bad. Neil said before that he had skiied on frost, well all power to him but give me soft fluffy stuff anytime. If you are in a big group expect the pistes around you to be crowded, it's basic market economics but if you can ski already bin the lessons and get on to some of the other pistes less often frequented, just please don't do anything you can't handle and keep out of my way. In Borovets try going off piste under the gondola it really is a scream. And yes basic Bulgarian wages are low but so is the cost of living, a lot of Bulgarians wouldn't dream of paying the pricses charged in the resort, they are extortionate compared to the real Bulgaria. The local press report price increases in basic goods during the winter but in the Bulgaria away from the resorts life goes on. So rant over, let's invite people to ask questions and those of us that can will help. Those that have a gripe well let's address those too and make it a better skiing experience for everyone.

re: THIS BOARD

Well everytime i have gone to Bulgaria the snow coverage has been wicked, like people say the instructors are rubbish from the main ski skool by the Gondolas, but when i first went i had one for half a day from a hut along the road up to the gondolas, who skied for the olymipics, and was instructing why he had time off training.
But you go off and do your own thing, and enjoy yourself. As for accommodation you pay for what you get, i was lucky to have my friend no the man in bulgarian ...

But you go off and do your own thing, and enjoy yourself. As for accommodation you pay for what you get, i was lucky to have my friend no the man in bulgarian properties, in which we paid £50 a week each for the mont Blanc apartments which were fab!!!But i find it very reasonable. The drink and food was fantastic prices, so some people are obviously looking in the wrong places. I found the most expensive part of the Holiday was the flights.
I haven't been anywhere but Bansko and from friends its the most upcoming and developed skiing destination in Bulgaria.
