Taking a laptop?

I'm staying at the Samokov and I notice they have free wi-fi.

This is ideal for me because running my own business I am going to need to be picking up e-mails and such.

My question is, is it safe to take a laptop? I've read a few horror stories about items going "walkies". Is there somewhere safe in the room to leave it?

May have to use my phone if not.
