re: Taster

Of course, there are loads and loads of beginners doing Yastrebets 2.
This has been thrashed out on skidvd, the lens is a fish eye and makes everything look closer. Have another look and watch for the curvature of the Horizon as he gets to the top of the chairlift.
Would you take your kids on the Tomba,or the "wall" in Pamps, or Yastrebets 2 ? if so what would you prefer, an ex ski champ having a laff for camera, or some complete newbie take you out because they are out of control ...

Perhaps better observation of the ski code for all of us, from christos behaviour, to the crowds of people that stop in the middle of the piste for no reason, or those that take on something they have no hope of being able to tackle ?
Is there anything in there for you to blow yourself up about GUB?

re: Taster

Just noticed, you say you're an "expert" boarder, and you are posting from .BG IP address and didn't know it was Borovets.
Sorry GUB I think you've got this out of all proportion.

All together now "won't somebody please think of the children"

re: Taster

When Christo filmed this he was using a fish eye lens - it makes things at the side seem much closer than they actually are.

If you watch the video, you'll see people are not jumping out of the way but standing to one side watching. He didn't go too close.

re: Taster

I did that slope last week...just a bit slower coz it just had snowed and there was a lot of ice Wink Wink
What you don't see is that at the end of the 'run' you have to 'walk' to the gondola..if you want a free sauna, that's the place!! Razz
Now where is that drink??? Booze

Listen, of course there's a need to get blown-up. The camera may give the impression of being closer than it actually is, but if Christo feels the need to shout ahead "Dont move!", then he is obviously too close for comfort! No matter how skilled others are, they are still liable to make mistakes - and you just can't take risks like that!
Say you're Michael Schumacher, do you drive down the road flat out assuming that no-one is going to be stupid enough to pull out on you? Or do you save ...

If you want to see an expertly produced vid then look here...

http://www.extremecarving.com/movies/movies04.html

...and look, those inconsiderate boarders have waited 'til there's no-one around too.

And as for you Skibarmy, there's no need to flame me. I'm a good border because I have travelled the world doing just that... I moved to BG a few months ago and live near Bansko. What's the point in going to Boro or Pamps when I have a season pass for Bansko? If I want to pay to go to another resort I’d rather put the money towards my yearly trip to Canada or Utah...

I apologise if you think my arguments aren't valid. There is obviously a clicky little group here, so I'll just bite the bullet and not post on this subject anymore.

I just hope that BG resorts stay safe, and I don't believe that vid is a good way of promoting it.

re: Taster

he shouts so others are aware of him on the slopes something alot of people on the slopes dont do and simply casue accidents
he isnt close to any of them but if they moved out and across then they would be in his path yes.

again its one of those some agree and some dont things

re: Taster

Blimey Cool for my tuppence worth, there are a lot of skiers (locals due to the skill level) who have a tendancy to piste bash, i suppose you could use the analogy of 'sunday drivers' and i think you will always have the same problem of getting them to ski according to the skill level of the 'tourists'. Also i think that the idea of having Christo ski the run was to give the 'feel' of speed to the video, and i must admit, having done that run many times, it gets my heart beating. I however ...

I however do not feel 'expert enough' to judge the safety pros and cons, but i do feel that the personal critiques of the man are totally unwarranted and unnecassary. Cool peace to all Booze Booze
