The 'NOT SO OBVIOUS' List

OK - so several of you have been askng what to take when skiing in Bulgaria for the first time.

Well apart from the obvious, like skiing and boarding gear here are some other tips that you may not have thought of.

In many hotels and resturants the toilet paper can be a bit rough. Simular to the old Izal type we used to have in the 70's in Britian so I would suggest you pack a couple of soft tissue rolls to be sure.

Coffee can be quite strong in Bulgaria, so if you enjoy yours as much as my missus does, take a jar of Gold Blend or whatever. If you take it with you to breakfast you can get a cup of hot water and make your own.

Brown Sauce is also scarce in Bulgaria and not many places serve it. So if you or your kids crave it, best to pack a bottle.

Adaptors are the standard European 2 pin round style although some of the newer hotels are starting to use the same 3 pin square style the same as we do.

Evening wear can vairy a lot and you will not be out of place in jeans and trainers anywhere. Simularly many people like to dress up for the evening so pack your glad rags if you wanna hit the clubs. Pretty much anything goes whatever you wear and wherever you go.

Batteries are quite expensive in Bulgaria (one of the very few things that are dearer) so be sure all your electrical goods that require batteries are fitted with fully charged ones.

Sun glasses are fine when the weather is good, but in snow or rain you will need goggles to see well.

I 'm sure there will be a million and one other things you'll want to know about before you go - so just ask away - somebody will have the answer for you.

Make sure you also pack some imodium, just in case you happen to drink any tap water which I mistakenly did on my frst time in bulgaria to quench a morning ater night before thirst! Saved me from having to take time out from the slopes!

re: The 'NOT SO OBVIOUS' List

take training/easy fitting clothes with you to go to breakfast (so you don't have to sit in your skigear allready) and a pair of espadrilles: in the hotel it can be warm.
Just change into your gear and your ready to go to hit the slopes!
the same vica versa when you're finished: great to go to the massages and pool! Cool

re: The 'NOT SO OBVIOUS' List

Open your bedroom window when you get back from skiing to equalise your body temperature from outside - the room will quickly warm up after you close it again, but otherwise it's a very big change for the body to adapt to and you are quite likely to end up with a cold or worse still bronchitis
