The Quality of Bansko skiing??

Hi,

I have been skiing since i was a young kid of 3 or 4 (now 22) and would say that I am an advanced skier. I've skied in many of Europes best resorts St.Anton, Courcheval, Chamonix etc etc. However, I was lucky enough for these ski holidays to be family holidays and therefore, were paid for. Last year i went on my first ski holiday just with mates and obviously paid for it myself. We went to St.Anton in Austria where the skiing is superb. A massive resort with great off piste and ...
Hi,

I have been skiing since i was a young kid of 3 or 4 (now 22) and would say that I am an advanced skier. Last year i went on my first ski holiday just with mates and obviously paid for it myself. We went to St.Anton in Austria where the skiing is superb. A massive resort with great off piste and on piste skiing. The only down side was that it was bloody expensive. Me and my mates want to go on another ski holiday this year but make it cheaper! Do you think Bansko skiing will satisfy us?? Obviously we know it won't be quite as good but will it be far too limited or will we still be challenged and have fun? Any comments will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

re: The Quality of Bansko skiing??

Hi Jason

In my 'younger' years I skied mainly in France and even did a whole season in the Trois Vallees Razz Since returning to skiing after a gap of some 6 years or so I went to Bansko last year. Granted I was a little 'rusty' but it soon came back to me - I found the skiing really great. Granted it is no where near in size of the French 'motorway' resorts but it is good skiing.

I was lucky when there in that I had super conditions there having being a big dump of snow beforehand and then beautiful sunny skies (I went in March). It really was glorious.

This year I returned to Bansko but also spent a week in Borovets. Whilst I like both for different reasons, I would recommend Bansko in terms of more mountainous landscape, a 'real' town and more (challenging) skiing. I found there were plenty of runs to keep me occupied and though I have not done it (yet!) there is the Alberto Tomba black run to contend with!!

I know others on here that have also been to Bansko and I am sure they will add to my comments.

To sum up - give it a go - I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Enjoy Booze

re: The Quality of Bansko skiing??

The pistes of Bansko are easily as good as most resorts in westen Europe. They are how ever smaller with 65km of runs. The lifts are very modern, the pistes will groomed and the off piste excellent.
Unlike a mega resort you can ski the whole resort easily within a couple of days but the quailty of skiing is great. You will just have to ski a couple of runs more than once.
