The REAL Bulgaria

Did anyone get a chance to see anything of the real Bulgaria outside of the resorts?
Think i will make the effort to learn the lingo before next year!!

stayed with friends just outside pamps, great little village. makes the resort prices look like a complete rip off !!

might try staying nearby and travelling in next year. Would be nice to get a taster of how the locals really live as they are such incredibly friendly people who i imagine live on a fairly lean existence outside the ski season.
They all make the effort to learn english, would like to return the gesture by learning some Bulgarian.
