Borovets is a great resort for families. We are a group of 20 who have now been going for 3 years. The kids range from 9 - 14 they love it. Ski all day then Bum board at night whilst you and your wife have Hot Chocolate & Baileys. Hotel Rila is in the best location but we stayed in Iglika (behind Rila) which is much smaller than the Rila and cheaper!!
going on the 19 mar with family to samokov is the hotel ok. please tell me it is . been to rila hotel is ok the resort is so pretty the best we been to so far. better than the alps more charm. And much cheaper we went in mar 12 02 it snowed all the time.the pine trees so pretty and white breath taking . when you go to french alps there no tree lines when it snows is A white out can,t ski is rubish in borovets there are trees.
The Rila is perfect with children. Ski hut with skis etc just outside the door along with the nursery slopes and a 4 chair lift. I have been to andorra and austria in Europe and I don't think its possible to get a better location with children than the Rila. They can go out and get sorted while you finish your breakfast and practice away. The food like pizzas and chips for lunch is great as are the pancakes. Also at lunch up the mountains you don't have to beat your way in a q to ...

I loved Andoora for the crack when I went on my own but I swear the food was awful and not quaint and cosy like the places in Bulgaria. More ski runs which is fine but there is enough in Borovets to keep everyone happy.
Lots of families out there, and as others have said it is ideal for kids. Obviously there will be those out there for a good drink untill the wee hours, but most kids are away to bed before they start partying, and i saw nothing to concern me or my kids when out and about.
enjoy
I went with my mate and chap and we didn't see any p***heads. I'm sure they are there but it seemed fairly quiet. Most of the bars don't get going until after 11pm anyway so I wouldn't worry about it to be honest.
We chilled, went out for a few beers and headed back to the hotel most nights.
