Very useful! I wish I'd at least learnt the alphabet before trying to drive to Bansko. The conversation between myself (driving) and Jon (navigating) went a little like this:
Me: What am I looking for on this sign coming up?
Jon: A Bulgarian place - I can't pronounce it.
Me: Spell it then!
Jon: Err... p, backwards capital n, stonehenge, star thing, pi...
That's brilliant - a bit like me asking one of my Bulgarian pals what a sign meant in the local government building - still makes me laugh when I think about it
The alphabet is a must to learn if you are doing a lot of driving we had exactly the same experience as Mattsville a few years back. Do be careful when pronouncing words though as Arron managed to inadvertently say the rude name for a ladies private parts instead of the word for turkey. Luckily our Bulgarian friends saw the funny side!
