Thanks for that Pete, do you know if you have to register your passport details etc to travel to Bulgaria now, can't remember if we did last year

Yes mate, you do. We had notification from Balkan to do it on line, took just 5 minutes.

We've had to do it for a few years now but it does seem to be an airline requirement rather than an imigration one.

i fly from dublin, booked with crystal ie and i phoned them last weekend to see if i needed to do API and they said no !! having said that never heard of the airline we are flying with - europe airpost lol crystal must charter this plane

Never had to do API in 7 years of going to Bulgaria, used to have the bit of paper done by the hotel when you left saying where you had been staying but since they have been in the EU not even that.
