Tipping Instructors

After a good weeks skiing is there a customary amount to 'tip' the instructor or should this be left to your own discretion ?

It is left to your own discretion, but it is customary to tip the instructors.

They only have a short season to earn a decent crust, and any tips are always very gratefully received.

As a guide only, we tend to give 20 levs per person.

They're on absolute peanuts, believe from my girlfriend that their instructor in Bansko (was his 1st group) was on only 180 lev a month with holes in his gloves

One of the nicest blokes you could meet, so we left him well rewarded & with brand new gloves

That said though if he weren't such a good bloke he'd of had none of that, pays to be nice afterall

look after them because they do look after you and your group in everyway they can they are great and dont earn alot so a nice tip will go down well

try to tip in sterling not lev they can get a better exchange rate than we can ... they deserve it

We were told they earn about 7lev a day! I would tip about 25lev - I left more for my daughters intructor, as he just about held her up for the whole week!!

Just make a decision on how much you tip on how good a job you think they did. Whenever i tip i don't just tip because it's "what you do". If they did an excellent job tip more if they did a terrible job don't tip. If you tip people who do a bad job it does not encourage them to do a good one, so standards fall. When it comes to amount of course that depends on how well off you are i suppose.
