To those that know Bulgaria

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.........

I went with skiing in Bulgaria on school trip over 15 years ago and for the life of me I cannot remember which resort we went to. Does anyone know Bulgaira well enough to know where I went from the following very vague clues.

We definatley flew into Sofia and there was then an 8 hour coach transfer to the resort.

I can only remember one thing about the resort itself in that one of the runs you passed through a short tunnel, ...

Does that narrow it down for anyone???

This hadnt crossed my mind for years, now after going to Borovets the other year I've started thinking about it !!!!

Thanks

8 hours!!!! wow dont think any of the resorts are that far away! Can you remember anything else about the resort? I.e if it had a big tower on the top of the mountain it is Pamps!

There is a way back to Borovets at the bottom of the world cup run that runs along the side of the road, and when there is enough snow you can ski down the road and under the tunnel (been lined with tyres for a few years now, dont know why as ive always found bulgarian drivers to be most cautious and careful when driving.....) this could be what youre thinking of, but for an 8 hour transfer i reckon the driver went via sunny beach!

There is a short tunnel in Pamp just before you get to the mid station - bumpy as hell mind, but good fun!!

8 Hours in a coach though - Mmmm, me thinks that was a bad detour...

re: To those that know Bulgaria

Bear in mind it was 15 years ago, the roads would have been crap, so It would take ages!

Got to be pamps with the tunnel!

re: To those that know Bulgaria

Yes Pamps.

The tunnel was built to pass under a ski jump that was to be constructed, and jumpers would land in the valley below. It wasn't until well into the construction that it was realised that the cross-winds were so strong that it would blow the jumpers off into the woods......... so after a lot of investment....... the whole project was aborted.

Hi Rob

I have tried all 3 resorts, Borovets, Pamporovo and the last 2 year Bansko and we are going Bansko again in february.

The only place I have seen a tunnel are in Plovdiv, halfway from Sofia to Pamporovo - We had been in Pamps only one time, we are a group of 10 guys - danes -,
and for us seems Pamps more familylike
