Had a day off, well, an afternoon...
Been snowing but was not expecting much as cams showed a white out on the top, and the predicted snow was only 5cm....
Got to top of gondola (queued for about 10 mins at bottom for pass and walked straight on), took the Shilli chair as Todorka looked blanketed in cloud, turned off down red 7 and............ mmmmmmmmmmm, fresh snow on a reasonable base, the edges cut up lovely and i was itching to get up to Platoto. 4 man chair, again no queuing and up. The pistes looked a little busy but the snow was good. Decided to venture into the trees to the side of Blue 10, good cover, and in places 20cm plus with only a few tracks, glorious Went up again and followed my tracks deciding to appear on the piste a little higher... Low and behold, soft moguls down the side...
Headed down to Challin Valog to meet some friends, the ski road was busy but good, cut into Challin Valog and discovered a bit of slush in the nursury area with mud starting to show through, still skiable but not great, up the chair to mid station, and blasted the black into the red a couple of times, again the sides really soft and great fun...
The snow we are getting is on the mountain, lower down its very wet, but forecasts are showing falling temps so fingers crossed we'll get a bit down the bottom

Sounds great and certainly better than the 'horror posts' that have appeared over the last couple of weeks. We were last in Bansko in 2005 and at that time thought it was fantastic - great hotel, loads of snow, good skiing, friendly people and the only time we were faced with nightmare queues was during a Bulgarian holiday in early March. Since then we've been skiing to the States and Borovets (enjoyed Boro despite the limited snow and long waits for the gondola). We're arriving in Bansko on Sunday and my initial concern in the wake of reading the earlier posts is diminishing - hopefully it will be as good and memorable as my last visit to Bansko. I hope so as it's my 4 year old son's first skiing holiday - fingers crossed he enjoys it and that it will be the first of many.

Great snow, good cover but a little tracked out, though we did discover some fresh to put down our tracks
White out on top, all lifts open on top... but i hate skiing when i can't see... It was definately a day to disappear into the forest
Has been snowing steadily all day, not heavy, but enough..
Those on their way out (mattsville...) are going to have a ball, i've got to work now, though im doing a day trip over to Boro next Thursday, so i'll get a chance then, hopefully they will have snow
